School Rules

Dancing is fun and to be enjoyed by all so we ask every
student to adhere to these simple rules and philosophy at all
times.
Behaviour
All students and parents are expected to have mutual respect for each other and their teachers. Students are expected to support one another and work together so that no dancer feels intimidated or left out. Inappropriate behaviour by student or parent will not be tolerated and will be challenged. If inappropriate behaviour persists the appropriate action will be taken.
Uniform
The correct uniform must be worn at all times and is compulsory for all classes – this includes correct footwear. Any non-uniform garments will have to be removed and students can wear spare uniform provided. (For further information please ask, alternatively see our website www.ClairesDanceAcademy.com)
All students’ hair should be tied back from their face (preferably in a bun for all classes)
For safety reasons, jewellery is not permitted to be worn in any dance classes and students will be asked to remove it upon entry into the dance hall. If students fail to wear the correct uniform on a regular basis they will not be permitted to dance.
Attendance
Please ensure that you try to arrive to classes on time. Dancers need to arrive in time to get dressed into the correct uniform and be prepared for their lesson. If late, please apologise to the class teacher.
Students must try to give teachers as much notice as possible if they are unable to make a lesson, mobile telephone numbers are attached to all correspondents as well as on our website.
If your child misses a full block of lessons (including the summer), we cannot be sure to hold their place as we have a waiting list for all classes. Please inform a member of staff at CDA if your child will not be returning to class so that we can offer the space to another child.
In the run up to any shows/performances or examinations, if attendance is not maintained dancers will be unable to perform in these events.
Fees
All payment of fees must be paid by the second week of the new teaching block. If they are not paid for by this point (without contacting a CDA member of staff to arrange alternative options) a late fee of £5 per week will be incurred. If a full teaching block is unpaid for, your child will lose their space in their classes.
Mobile Phones
Mobiles telephones may be brought into the studio but are strictly for emergencies only and are not be used during or between classes and are to remain on silent. There will be a secure place for students to leave their phones to be collected at the end of class if they wish but are to not be used as they cause distraction.
Food & Drink
Food and drinks must not be eaten in the dance studio for safety reasons. Chewing gum is not permitted in the dance studio for health and safety. Students who are in classes for 30 minutes can get drinks between classes (unless instructed otherwise by a member of CDA staff). For classes of 60 minutes or longer, timed breaks will be allocated by a member of CDA staff. For those students with medical conditions, please make CDA staff aware and provisions will be made.
Contacting CDA
Please feel free to contact CDA staff between the hours of 8.00-20.00. If your call is missed please leave a name and number and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Any calls/messages made outside this time will not be answered. Contact can be made via text, call, email or Facebook message (CDA – Claire’s Dance Academy).
Students, parents/carers who have any queries or concerns must speak to CDA staff directly or make an appointment to speak to their teacher after class or at another available time.
Competition Team
Any dancers who are selected to be a part of the competition team must attend a minimum off three different classes per week. This can include any of the classes we offer, as student selection is based upon the strengths the individual has in the different styles.
Competition team members must be able to commit to regular privates with teachers to focus on their routines as well as weekly group sessions to work on technique and troupe work. These private sessions will be rotated weekly to accommodate all students.
Specialist Classes
Any students who wish to take acro or pointe work classes must be assessed by CDA staff before enrolled due to health and safety reasons.
Any students who wish to take pointe work classes must also take ballet classes.
Any students who wish to take acro classes must also take stretch classes.
