What we do:
Throughout the year we hold a series of events for the dancers to be involved in:
Dance Show - Our annual dance show is usually held around May half term. This involves the dancers displaying routines that they have practiced during classes and performing in front of a large audience including friends and family. The production spans evening and matinee performances which are recorded on DVD, and involves the dancers wearing full show costumes and makeup. Dancers perform in all genres including: ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, commercial, acro, musical theatre, cheer, lyrical and street dance and break dance routines and all age groups from 3 years + participate and it is truly a fabulous night.
Exams - Every year we hold dancing examinations in ballet and tap which we work towards throughout the year. They are usually held in October when a BATD/NCDTA registered examiner arrives and examines the dancers on their set steps, performance and technique. All dancers ranging from 3 years+ can be examined providing they are ready to take their dance exams. Certificates, medals and trophies are awarded a few weeks later for each dancer who has taken the exams. The dancers will then move up to the next level. We also offer the opportunity for our dancers to study their professional examinations when they are ready.
Showcase - We hold a dance showcase each Christmas which is an opportunity for parents to watch their children and see their progress over the course of the year. This is an open day for parents and is a small showcase to see who is ready for the competitions as well as giving younger children the opportunity to practice and get used to dancing on a stage in front of a small audience. Certificates of achievement are awarded to each dancer as well as trophies and medals for outstanding achievement.
Competitions - We have taken part in local competitions, in which dancers have competed in various styles ranging from ballet, tap, modern/jazz, lyrical, acro, musical theatre and street dance. Dancers are offered the opportunity to take part in the competition based upon their performance throughout the year, in the dance showcase as well as their examination results. It is a good opportunity for dancers to develop their stage presence and confidence as well as a good practice for the dance shows.
